Concert with Melody Gardot

On Friday 30 April 2010 the international star Melody Gardot will play at Stavanger Concert Hall. This concert should not be missed!

Melody Gardot has become one of the hottest names in the music industry in a short period of time. Her music has clear references to Norah Jones and has a laid-back style, with a mixture between jazz, blues and pop.

Melody Gardot was seriously injured while she was taking a bicycle ride at the age of nineteen. She spent more than a year at the hospital, suffering from fractures in her pelvis, a head injure and amnesia. She also became hypersensitive to noise and light. Despite these circumstances, four years later she was able to produce a debut album which was acclaimed by the critics and played all over the world with great success. The album was recorded under the traditional record label Verve.

In Norway she became known by the big audience thanks to a captivating interview, as well as a superb live performance who took place earlier this autumn in Skavlan. The now 23-year-old singer from Pennsylvania has a voice and phrasing that makes it easy to associate her with the giants of the vocal jazz.

In April she comes to Norway to give three concerts. On Friday 30 April she will play at Stavanger Concert Hall. Melody Gardot is still overwhelmed by the reception that she has received in Norway after her performance in Skavlan and says that the warmth and the enthusiasm that she received during her stay in Norway were very special. My One And Only Thrill is the name of her second album.
