Together with the writer Katrine Mosfjeld, Normanns Kunstforlag will make a book about Norway based on tips given by Facebook users. In relation to this, a Facebook group was created. The group is called Boken om Norge or, in English, The book about Norway. The group is meant to be a space for those who wish to give tips about travel destinations, attractions, museums, activities and annual events that they think that should be in the book.
The possibility to make friendly characterizations of people who live in the different cities in Norway is being considered. At the moment there is a search for tips about the personality of people from Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, Kristiansand, Fredrikstad and Tromsø. -We are not interested in having as many tips as possible but we are very interested in good tips. In the history behind the tip. Since we cannot tell that much in a small book, we want to tell the right things to present accurate aspects of Norway’s personality, says Katrine Mosfjeld.
Katrine Mosfjeld and Normanns Kunstforlag are also in the search for good amateur pictures that can be used in the new tourist book. So far 200 pictures from different parts of the country have been uploaded. - If you have taken pictures that tell beautiful, interesting, characteristic or funny stories about Norway you should upload them to this group or copy the link to, for example, Flickr. The pictures should be in high resolution so they can be printed in good quality, says Katrine Mosfjeld.
Katrine Mosfjeld works as field manager for the tourist information offices in Oslo and has her own consultant company. In addition to this, she works as a writer and has already made a book about Oslo together with VisitOSLO and with the help of friends and strangers from Facebook. The book was issued for the first time in 2009 and this year a new edition of the book will be edited. This need edition will include, among other things, new pictures of the new Holmenkollen that will soon be ready. The book will be ready for the Ski-VM in Oslo in 2011.
