Together with Lonely Planets ranking of  Preikestolen (The Pulpit Rock) as one of the worlds most stunning viewing points in their book «1000 ultimate sights» earlier this autumn, this takes Preikestolen to new hights!

See the full list on CNNs travel magazine CNN GO webpages here.

Visitor numbers from the parking lot at Preikestolen Mountain Lodge
adds up to about 100.000 visitors annualy. We estimate the total visitor numbers to platou to be atleast 50% more than this. In addition, around 300 000 visitors come to the Lysefjord area every year.

This summers visits to Stavanger in july was an all time high, with 80-90% per cent capacity covered in the hotels. We see that more and more norwegians (mainly young people between 25-40yrs and young couples) come to Stavanger to combine urban holiday/food/festivals with a trip to Preikestolen. -It appears that Preikestolen is becoming a "must see" also for norwegians, after being a iconic landmark in the Fjord-Norway region for international tourists for years!

The Stavanger region is the fastest growing area in number of accommodation for vacation and holiday visitors in Fjord Norway just now(aprox. +20%). We predict a healthy growth in the coming seasons, partly because of the value for visitors in Preikestolen and the Lysefjord being so close to urban and cultural attractions in Stavanger.
