Many international artists will come to the 20th International Chamber Music Festival in the Stavanger region from Monday 9 August 2010 to Sunday 15 August 2010.
Tuesday 10 August 2010 Leif Ove Andsnes, Christian Tetzlaff, Clemens Hagen, Tabea Zimmermann and the festival’s Artistic Director Martin Fröst will be playing at Stavanger Concert Hall.
The pianists Kathryn Stott and Polina Leschenko, the violinist Antje Weithaas and Benjamin Schmid will also participate in the festival. Other artists are the trumpetist Tine Thing Helseth and bassoonist Audun Halvorsen. The festival’s other Artistic Director Christian Ihle Hadland will also participate in the festival.
Several of the artists have participated in the International Chamber Music Festival in previous years and look forward to coming back to the Stavanger region. Henning Kaggerud participates at the festival for 4th time this year and so does Kathryn Stott.
As usual the International Summer Academy will be held during the festival. The following famous musicians will teach at the academy: Jiri Hlinka (piano), Martin Fröst (clarinet), Audun Halvorsen (bassoon), Henning Kaggerud (violin/viola), Torleif Thedéen (cello) and Pieter Wispelwey (cello).
This will be the first festival with the new artistic directors Martin Fröst and Christian Ihle Hadland. The International Chamber Music Festival was founded in 1991 by Truls Mørk in 1991. He was artistic director for 13 years. Then Grieg trio consisting of Ellen Margrete Flesjø, Sølve Sigerland and Vebjørn Anvik were Artistic Directors for the festival for the next five years.
