Randaberg

Randaberg is situated at the northern point of the Jæren region.

Randaberg had 9 622 inhabitants per January 1, 2008. It has been known for its agricultural production, and currently produces 80 % of the total parsley production in Norway. In addition, Randaberg's first potato harvest of the year is delivered to the Royal family as an annual tradition. In the Svarthola cave traces of settlement dating back to 6 000 years before Christ have been found, and it has now become one of the most important tourist attractions in the area.

The city of Randaberg is a fairtrade municipality.

A fair-trade municipality is a label for cities and councils that actively work towards increasing the knowledge of and consumation of Fairtrade labelled products in their local communities.

To achieve the status as a fairtrade municipality, the council has to meet a number of criteria that have been set by Fairtrade Max Havelaar Norway, however the city should also work on a continuous basis to promote this labelling of ethics and social responsibility.

The concept first emerged in the United Kingdom, where approximately 150 cities and places have achieved this status.
