Bicycle tours
There are several routes in the region, and the free brochure “On green wheels in Rogaland” provides tour proposals and useful information.

The North Sea Cycle route
A dozen exquisite sandy beaches, rocky promontories, heather-clad moors and Norway’s most productive dairy farms form a perfect mix of scenery, interspersed with lively harbours both large and small. Two days of cycling along the North Sea coast.         Jæren – a wide-open landscape: Sandnes – Egersund – 91 km

Day 1: Sandnes – Nærland: 46 km
The coastline varies from sandy beaches to pebbled shores and rocky coasts. Now and then you cycle inland through the rolling landscape of Jæren where long stone walls separate neat farms. In the afternoon we recommend a visit to Hå Old Vicarage from 1787.
Day 2: Nærland – Egersund: 53 km.  33 km easy, 20 km unmetalled strenuous.
Whilst the painter Kitty Kielland and her brother, the author Alexander, revelled in the lovely light, Arne Garborg wrote of “the murky mainland”. Not until the end of the 19th century did merchandise, stone clearance and cultivation change the “murky mainland” into today’s green plains, also making Jæren the country’s centre for agricultural machinery.
After crossing the salmon rivers of Hå and Ogna, an abandoned road leads you over the moors. On the descent you pass a salmon ladder at the narrow Fotlandsfossen falls.
Equipment: Bicycles for hire, up to 25.
Recommended number: Up to 25 persons
Duration: 1 - 2 days

Hiking

Hiking to Preikestolen – «the Pulpit Rock»
Lysefjord, in Ryfylke is 42 km (approximately 26 miles) long and a pearl of Norwegian nature. The glaciers formed the fjord landscape during the last Ice Age, and can be called a canyon. The mountain soars up to 1,000 metres (3,000 feet) above sea level on both sides of the fjords and some places the depth below sea level is as much as its height above sea level.
Preikestolen - one of Norway’s most spectacular wonders at 597metres (1,800 feet) - is located in Lysefjord. Seen from the water, it is small. To experience its majesty, hike up to it!
You follow a well marked trail from the Pulpit Rock Cabin through different mountain landscapes.
The plateau is approximately 25 x 25 metres and flat and you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Lysefjord and surrounding mountains.

Lysefjord is 42 km (approximately 26 miles) long and a pearl in Norwegian nature. The glaciers formed the fjord landscape during the last Ice Age, and can be called a canyon. I så fall bør det stå det same som over
Kjerag: With a thousand vertical metres the plunge down towards the fjord Kjerag makes Preikestolen seems small. In Kjerag all the fjord’s special characteristics are intensified to the extreme. The Kjerag plateau is a barren mass of rock with polished crags and the Kjerag boulder lies approx. 300 metres south of the cairn.
